It’s time to toast the successes of 2014 – it was a big year for us as we jumped into all sorts of new and different things. It was the year we ran MuckMS Canada/Totale Bouette across the country – and it meant getting very muddy for a good cause. We began our endMS: Whatever It Takes campaign, and we intensified our focus on progressive MS research and translational medicine so that treatments get into the hands of those who need it, faster.
And of course, we biked, walked (sometimes we walked our bikes), and did all sorts of challenges to raise more money to end MS.
But our fundraising year isn’t over yet, and there’s still time to make 2014 one of our most successful ever. In fact, December is the busiest season for giving, and if you act before month-end, you can take advantage of some great benefits that help those living with MS — and you can benefit, too.
If you make a donation now through our year-end giving campaign, your donation will be matched, dollar for dollar. This means your donation will have double the impact and help provide vital research and services in local communities. It’s easy to do – click to give.
Good news — not only will your gift be matched, but you’ll also get a tax receipt for 2014. Want to know what you’ll get back from giving? Calculate your tax credit here. You have to give before midnight on December 31 to get the benefit for this tax year. And if you’ve never given to charity before and claimed the tax benefit, there is no better time to start giving than now – the Government of Canada has introduced the First Time Donor’s Credit, which means first-time donors get a bigger bang for their buck.
Once you’re done, I have one more suggestion – set up a monthly gift. If you choose to give monthly, you won’t need to worry about beating the tax deadline in 2015 – you’ll know you’ve made your contribution throughout the year in an affordable, manageable way, and get your tax credit without a hassle at the end of the year. Set it and forget it – you’re done.
With your help, we’re doing more to end MS than ever before. Your support in 2014 is critical, and we’re working to make sure we can continue to be at the forefront of MS research and care in 2015. In fact, we’re taking bold steps to ensure we can win this battle – you can watch how we’re going to do it right here:
My very best wishes for a happy and prosperous New Year — I know we can end MS together.
